BEIRUT—A big explosion shook a Hezbollah stronghold in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, sending a thick plume of smoke over a rustic nonetheless reeling from the lethal Beirut explosion final month that devastated elements of the capital.

Smoke was seen rising from the realm surrounding the cities of Ain Qana and Kafarfila, the state-run National News Agency reported, saying echoes of the blast have been heard throughout the areas of Nabatiyeh and Iqlim al-Tuffah.
